Berroco Vintage is one of those yarns knitters keep coming back to. Reviewers describe it as a great multipurpose yarn that knits up beautifully, and many say it works up nicely across blankets, sweaters, hats and scarves.
Customers say the stitches show clearly, so lace, colourwork and textured patterns stand out. One reviewer who used it for a colourwork cowl described the result as having lots of bounce and excellent stitch definition.
Reviewers say the colour choices are a real highlight. Many buyers describe the shades as beautiful, with sharp, crisp tones that keep a rustic character. Jewel shades and softer pastels both have fans, so there is plenty to choose from for a gift or a bold project.
Customers say it feels soft against the skin, which makes it a favourite for baby blankets and children's garments. One reviewer, who finds some wools irritating, said it felt good to knit with and caused no bother. Another liked that finished pieces can be machine washed, making them less fussy to look after.
Knitters making gifts often mention how well it suits everyday wear, from a scarf around the neck to a sweater a grandchild will live in.
Berroco Vintage suits knitters who want a dependable, soft yarn for family projects, especially childrenswear. Those who have used it for years describe it as a go-to yarn they keep returning to.

I like the quality of the yarn. I have made over 20 blankets from this yarn. It has softness, durability, and how it knits up. I like the colour choices.
I bought 2 different colors of this yarn recently, and made 2 scarves as gifts. One scarf has a simple leaf lace pattern, and the other is a sampler style, with blocks of many different patterns. The yarn is easy and quick to knit, and shows the patterns well. I used about 2.5 skeins of each for scarves about 12" x 6'. It feels soft around the neck, and the recipients appreciated the ease of care - machine washable. I was unsure how to block it, since it's a blend of wool and acrylic, but I...
This is one of my most favorite colors Sour Cherry is a deep luscious red and makes my skin glow. I’ve a DK project that calls for this color and the colors in dk are very limited for vintage yarn. You will love this yarn .
My absolute favourite 50/50 yarn. So soft and easy to crochet with. Currently being used in crochet sweater for husband,, baby blanket gor new great grandson and ruana for me. I find all wool too heavy for crochet items. Also the colours are gorgeous.
I’ve knitted two sweaters with this yarn and they turned out great! The yarn is beautifully dyed, with depth to the colors. The yarn is soft and durable and it drapes nicely once blocked. I will be back for more in other colors. .
I used this for a colorwork cowl and it came out terrifically. Lots of bounce with excellent stitch definition. Highly recommend this yarn!
I’m making a hat and this yarn is wonderful to work with. The colors as shown on the site were a perfect match to that delivered. I didn’t realize this was an order from the UK to the US but thrilled it arrived in a week.
Purchased various colors to make a temperature “scarf”. (Have enough blankets/throws.). Colors are gorgeous/vibrant. The yarn is so nice to work with. This yarn was a very good choice for me.
Gorgeously soft 50/50 yarn, perfect for crocheting. Colours are deep and rich. Only available at Lovecrafts in UK, so my go to for baby blankets, husband’s jacket etc.
This is one of my favourite yarns. It is so easy to work with, the best part is that it does not split! I love the combination of wool with nylon because this makes it last long and stay soft.
