I love this yarn. I’ve knitted for over 60 years and always stuck to cheaper wool that I could afford but I decided to knit a special shawl and so thought it deserved some good quality yarn. This yarn is beautiful - soft and easy to knit with. Colours are gorgeous. It has been discontinued, though, so keep that in mind for any projects you might want to use this for. If you can find it at a really good discount, then go for it. In Ravelry, there are comments about pilling; my sweater still looks good but I don't wear it that often.

Used before knits up well and made in Yorkshire rather than abroad

It is gorgeous to knit with, and beautifully silky, with a lovely sheen. I think it may be finer than normal 4 ply, however. I am making a shrug, using a Northern Lace pattern by Elizabeth Lovick, that a friend gave me, and am hoping it will be all right. This yarn may be better for a shawl than a garment.
