Such a disappointment. The colours are beautiful but the yarn is in no way soft. It is rough and the yarn splits easily and often. In just one pair of socks I encountered many thick fibers wound into the yarn. They felt bits of dried out plant.
Very poor quality yarn. I was knitting socks with 4 colours. The yarn had many, many flaws, such as complete breaks, fuzzed up lengths, sand split strands. This particularly affected the cerise ball, which is unfortunate as this is the colour I chose for the plain sections. I worked on as its difficult to stop part way through a project but I had a lot of ends to weave in and I'm anticipating a lot of mending and darning in the future. So sad, maybe it was a 'rogue' lot, but I won't buy this...
I've never used this wool before. Very pleased with the quality. Very soft to knit with and ideal sock wool. Definitely lives up to its name.

I have used this a lot as an accent colour for heels and toes of socks. It also works well as a strand to combine with a striping yarn for chunkier patterns

Lovely colors, but it's a little rough. This is a light fingering and I had to go up a needle size for my socks. I was able to knit a pair of ankle socks with one ball(small feet), so this is an excellent value for me.
Contrary to the implication of the name, this yarn is not my perception of soft. However, in the past I have had problems with socks made from my hand-spun pure wool wearing out prematurely and I have opted for this wool mixture in the hope of harder wearing properties. Only time will prove this. There is good knitting stitch definition, which makes it satisfying to work a pattern with. Hopefully, the yarn may soften in the wash, but that remains to be seen.
Two of the 4 balls I purchased had visible knots on the outside of the ball, and further knots inside. One of the others had "yarn doughnuts" round the yarn, where the yarn had split and formed little balls. I was unable to complete my sock project due to the large number of joins which, despite the most careful of joining, still ends up with slightly thicker areas in the sock. As a diabetic, I cannot take the risk of any blisters or sore points on my feet. I will definitely NOT be buying this...
